How to Create a Testimonial for Your Website

One common way to show social proof on your website is with testimonials from past customers. And a good way to show these is with a testimonial slider.

A testimonial is usually a part of your website that shows comments from happy customers who have used your service or bought your product. This section often uses a rotating slider to save space.

These testimonials can come in different forms. They might be short quotes, longer paragraphs, or even video clips. Including a photo of the person giving the testimonial can also make it feel more genuine. It’s important that they sound real and not like they were written by you.

Note: You can follow along with this tutorial seamlessly by using InstaWP’s staging environment. InstaWP lets you spin up a ready-to-use WordPress site in seconds, so you can test, tweak, and experiment risk-free.

Why should you consider a testimonial on your website?

The main reason to put testimonials on your website is that they build trust. It’s easy to make a website these days, and there are, unfortunately a lot of scams. Testimonials quickly show anyone visiting your site that you’re a real person and that you do what you say you’ll do.

They also support what your marketing says about customer experience and service quality. Sure, anyone selling something will say they give great service; it’s more believable when you hear it from other people who’ve experienced it.

Your testimonials are like an artist’s portfolio. Getting real stories from real clients and sharing details and important points shows potential clients what it’s like to work with you.

Referrals are always a great way to get clients (42% of sellers find their agent through referrals), but a testimonial slider is like a referral that’s always there. Someone moving to a new state or area and looking for an agent will probably go online to find the next best thing to a referral: someone with lots of good, real testimonials.

FAQs

How many testimonials should I include?

Try to maintain a balance in this section. Too many or too few will be damaging to you and will not achieve your main goal. However, a few quality comments from people who can be tracked on social media will have a positive impact.

Where should I place the testimonial section on my website?
A testimonial slider is not usually the first section displayed on a website, but they can be placed below the first section on pages such as the homepage, landing page, product page, or even the “About Us” page, which is related to the introduction of your product or service.
