There’s not a single day when we’re not thinking about how InstaWP customers can get more value out of our product. To that end, we’re constantly exploring new ideas and strategies.
For some time now, we’ve been considering adopting a Pay-Per-Use model as a potential step in that direction. It’s in our roadmap for 2025, as conveyed in the Year In Review blog post as well.
In case you are unaware, the Pay-Per-Use model is a pricing approach that’s all about fairness, simplicity, and paying only for what you actually use. At InstaWP, we’re exploring this innovative model to make our platform even more customer-centric.
Let’s dive into what it means for you and why it might be a game-changer.

What is a Pay-Per-Use Model?
The pay-per-use model, as the name suggests, charges customers based on the amount of service or resources they consume. In the world of SaaS and digital services, this model has been gaining traction. Instead of locking customers into rigid plans with unused features, pay-per-use offers ultimate flexibility.
You pay for what you need and nothing more (or nothing less). It’s very similar to how electricity billing works: you pay only for the energy you use, not a flat fee, regardless of your consumption. If you are holidaying, it won’t add to your electricity bill, right?
Adopting Pay-Per-Use at InstaWP
Let’s say, you need InstaWP to spin up staging sites for a few weeks but don’t need a full subscription. With a pay-per-use model, you could pay only for the specific usage during that time. It’s different from how InstaWP pricing works at present.
If Pay-Per-Use is applied, it’ll let you buy staging sites, permanent sites, managed hosting, WaaS, templates, and everything else separately. Obviously, we’ll keep our structured plans the way they are.
We recently shared this idea with a set of users, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. About 85% of respondents showed interest in the Pay-Per-Use Model, with 30% affirming its benefits and 55% expressing curiosity and willingness to explore it further.

This response has encouraged us to take the next step in evaluating how this model could make InstaWP even more tailored to your needs. And now, we are seeking every user’s thoughts on this.

Why Pay-Per-Use? The Benefits for You
Here’s why this model is a win for customers like you:
1. Cost-Efficiency
One size doesn’t fit all. With a pay-per-use model, you’re not stuck paying for features or resources you don’t need. Whether you’re an agency scaling up or a freelancer with one-off projects, you only pay for what you use. No waste, just value.
2. Scalability
Need more resources one month and fewer the next? Pay-per-use grows (or shrinks) with you. This flexibility ensures that you’re not overpaying during slow periods or underpowered during busy ones.
3. Transparency
Pay-per-use models provide clear insights into what you’re paying for. You see the value upfront, with every dollar tied to measurable usage.
4. Accessibility for All Users
If you’re a small business or just starting out, large upfront costs can be a barrier. Pay-per-use removes that hurdle, making premium services like InstaWP accessible without heavy financial commitments.
5. Encourages Resource Optimization
When you’re paying for what you use, you’re naturally more mindful of your consumption. This encourages better planning and efficient use of resources.
Why InstaWP is Considering Pay-Per-Use
At InstaWP, we’re all about making WordPress development, testing, migration, services, and hosting as seamless and accessible as possible. We understand that our users come from diverse backgrounds – freelancers, agencies, startups, and enterprises – and each has unique needs.
A pay-per-use model could:
- Help small-scale users manage costs more effectively.
- Offer agencies greater control over scaling their usage.
- Remove financial barriers for new users trying InstaWP for the first time.
We’re committed to tailoring InstaWP to your needs, and this potential shift is part of that journey.
The Future of Flexibility
The pay-per-use model represents a future where customers like you are in control. No longer do you have to choose between plans that are too big or too small? Instead, you get exactly what you need, and when you need it.
At InstaWP, our goal is to continue innovating and providing the best possible experience for our users. Your feedback will shape how we move forward with this. Let’s build something amazing together
